Essener Hof Hotel was established as the “Herberge zur Heimat“ hospice in the year 1883.
On 27.9.1883 Reverend Lenssen called on the community to establish a hospice.
In November of the same year the “Herberge zur Heimat” trust was already set up on the occasion of celebrating Martin Luther's 400th birthday.
In June 1887 the foundation stone for a hospice was laid – right in the centre of the city. Even in those days it was the hospice's claim to make its guests feel at home in a foreign town.
For more than 1oo years it has been the aim of the Bosse Family to live up to this claim.
