History
The Hotel Essener Hof was established under the name “Herberge zur Heimat” (“Homeland Inn”) back in 1883.
On 27.9.1883, Pastor Lenssen called on community members to found an inn. In November of that same year, the foundation “Herberge zur Heimat” was set up on the occasion of celebrations for the 400th birthday of Martin Luther.
History of the house
In June of 1887, the cornerstone was laid for an inn in the centre of the city. Back then the ambition was to offer guests a bit of home while away from home.
